Barbara Spence

My work is grounded in the geometry of the physical world. From planets held in orbit, to the motion of waves: I explore the simplicity of shape, curve and rhythms that occur naturally and the relationship between bodies creating space or collision.
Each piece is structured to capture a fleeting moment of dynamic motion. Using traditional techniques I create three dimensional shapes from sheet and forge spirals from wire. Rounded forms are echoed by cabochon stones in harmonious colours.
